[attr="class","largeleft"] [attr="class","largehover"] [attr="class","uglyhoverinside"] [attr="class","bioheader"]personality. [attr="class,"bioentry"]Bo-ra is an energetic girl, bubbly and high spirited and quite possibly the sweetest, kindest, most compassionate person you could stumble across. She’s definitely somewhat eccentric, taking into account that she sees things that aren’t there. She’s friendly and lovable, however she’s very easily distracted and keeping tabs on her is very difficult. She can be quite clumsy and forgetful, mischievous, depending on the people she’s around, and sometimes, crazy and thoughtless. [attr="class","bioheader"]likes, dislikes, hobbies. [attr="class,"bioentry"]likesSweet things, candies, desserts, coffee, milk tea, and absolutely anything cute. She likes fairy tales, but not the typical ‘once upon a time’ or ‘and they lived happily ever after’ kind. She likes stories about Fae folk, dark and twisted fables, where someone undoubtedly dies in the end. She is obsessed with Kdramas and sometimes thinks her life was snatched from the plot of one. She enjoys working and spending time with her friend, listening to the latest song from her current favorite idol band and trying, but failing, to learn the dances from the music videos. She enjoys taking pictures, is in love with her camera, and aspires one day to become a photographer.[break] dislikesThere is nothing she hates more than being told what to do, authoritative figures who throw their weight around, people mistaking her for being crazy, although she is. She dislikes being told to smile or to cheer up. She doesn’t like thunderstorms, she’s actually terrified of them. She hates the dark, because when it’s dark, it’s harder to pretend she doesn’t see the things that aren’t there. And lastly, she hates having to visit the hospital.[break] hobbiesPhotography is one thing that brings her most joy. Dancing badly but spiritedly. Singing off key to kpop songs, but translating them as best she can to English, because not only is it fun but she can say it’s homework. Reading weird fairy tales, and acting like a normal teenage girl. [attr="class","bioheader"]history. [attr="class,"bioentry"]Born in South Korea, in Gangwon-do by the ocean, Bo-ra was the fifth child of Park Mi-ra and Min Bo-seok. She was their first daughter, and you can imagine Mi-ra’s delight in finally having someone there to even out the playing field.[break]Both Mi-ra and Bo-seok had demanding jobs, however. Mi-ra was a nurse and Bo-seok was a doctor, they both loved their jobs, but shortly before their daughter was born, they both decided that Mi-ra would give up her job, allow her husband to be the sole breadwinner, and stay at home with Bo-ra. Her mother-in-law had given her a hard time when she returned to work after her sons were born, she expected her to give that up when she married Bo-seok. At least this time, she wouldn’t receive the same treatment.[break]Bo-ra was considered a late-in-life child, her mother almost forty at the time of her arrival and her older brothers were born really close together. Her youngest older brother was eleven, the twins were thirteen, and her eldest brother was fifteen.[break]By the time Bo-ra started school, she was already acting strangely, as she’d be told when she got a little older. She was always happy, she was always lively, but she had a habit of talking to herself, laughing at nothing. The oddest and most worrying things were when she would cry and scream for no reason. These outbursts had her teachers worried and not to mention, had the mothers of her little friend group gossiping about her. Bo-seok wanted to take her to see a doctor, a child psychiatrist, a friend of his, but Mi-ra didn’t want that being held over her daughter’s head for the rest of her life. Eventually, however, she took her to see a shaman, who told Mi-ra that Bo-ra was just a child with a big imagination and it was nothing to worry about. She cleansed her spirit and aura, chanted something in a language that was not Korean, sold her a charm to boost her energy and sent them on their way. The shaman, however, was a warlock who could tell that Bo-ra had somehow acquired the Sight, something that she found odd because she could tell that both of them were mundane. She cast a glamour over the girl that would hopefully stop her from seeing the things she saw.[break]And it did, for the most part. Bo-seok had once lived in the United States, with his parents and his brother, and when Bo-ra was around nine, he decided that he’d take his wife and daughter there. His brother ran a medical practice, he’d already been offered a job and he took it. He believed that it would be good for the family, which it was at first. Only, Bo-ra started seeing things again, this time worse than before. She got so scared of something she saw that she almost ran into oncoming traffic to flee from this...thing. She was taken to the hospital, where she proceeded to tell the doctor that she saw what she could only describe as a demon. Some kind of creature that had fangs and claws like a monster, with wings like a giant bat. Mi-ra was regretting never taking her to see that psychiatrist. It didn’t take long for the doctors to diagnose Bo-ra with unspecified schizophrenia, with more ‘positive’, auditory and visual hallucinations, symptoms than ‘negative’. Of course, she underwent a lot of tests, to rule out any kind of brain tumors or any underlying health issues that could be causing the hallucinations. And nothing was found. [break]Bo-ra was placed in a hospital for a short period of time when she turned thirteen, three and a half years after she received her diagnosis. She took the pills, she saw the doctors, she did everything she was told to do, but she still saw the monsters and the demons and the ghosts. During the incident that led to her hospitalization, she had been at a friend’s house, one of the few friends she’d made in New York City, and one of the monsters attacked her. The injuries she sustained looked like an attempt on her life. After the stay at the hospital, a clinic for young people like her, Bo-ra decided that she would avoid the things at all costs, and she wouldn’t tell her parents when she saw them.[break][break]Her plan lasted a few months, until she had a breakdown after her uncle passed away. After she was released, it was back to the plan, and she did great for a couple of years, until she started to see...a guy. A very pretty guy. Whenever she saw him, she was on her own and she always saw one of those terrifying monsters. It was almost like he was there because of those things. And she started to think, maybe, just maybe, someone or something sent him to take care of them, to keep her safe. Rather dangerously, Bo-ra started to do the opposite of what she’d been doing for years. Instead of ignoring the warning signs of one of those things showing up, she’d head straight for it, hoping that he’d be there. And to say her first interaction with him wasn’t eventful would be a downright lie. After narrowly avoiding being run through by a very clawed hand and nearly breaking her neck in the process, she thanked him and quickly followed up with an apology for getting in the way.[break]He started showing up a lot more often, and not when those things were around, Bo-ra started to think of him as a friend. Why not? It may have been unintentional, but he’d prevented her death on multiple occasions. At first, it was odd that no one else could see Endymion and as she started to think more about it, the idea that her uncle had sent him was making more sense. With a name like his, was it so bizarre to think, perhaps he was a guardian angel?[break][break]Turns out, guardian angel wasn’t quite right. He was apparently an imaginary friend, which also wasn’t so bizarre. If her mind was creating those monsters, why wouldn’t it create someone to fight them off? Like...her medication becoming a person? It seemed logical, even if she was sixteen at the time and was too old for an imaginary friend. For about a year now, she’s believed it and she’s more than grateful.
